  • Bachelor's Degree in Gender Studies, Women's Studies, Sociology, International Development, or a related field required.
  • Experience working as a Gender Specialist or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of gender equality and women’s rights issues, including in-depth knowledge of gender analysis methodologies, gender mainstreaming, and gender-responsive programming.
  • Experience heading task teams to deliver client deliverables, including research, assessments, and training.
  • Proficiency in project management, including the ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor gender-focused initiatives.
  • Experience presenting technical content or thought stewardship to external audiences, such as through conference presentations, workshops, webinars, white papers, or journal articles required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and collaborative tools such as GSuite and Slack
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively and facilitate discussions on sensitive gender topics.
  • Results-oriented collaborator who builds a positive team culture.
  • Makes data-driven decisions and pushes for positive change.
  • Excellent listener and facilitator who encourages open communication.

Job Summary

  • As a gender specialist you will play a key role in promoting gender equality and social inclusion within the organisation.

Duties

  • Conduct gender analysis and assessments to identify gender disparities, inequalities and opportunities for promoting gender equality within our organizations' program and projects..
  • Collaborate with program teams to integrate gender considerations into project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Advocate for gender responsive policies, practices and programming both internally and externally.
  • Support the collection and analysis of gender-disaggregated data to track progress towards gender equality goals and outcomes.
  • Facilitate workshops, seminars and learning sessions to promote awareness and understanding of gender issues and promote gender sensitive practices.
  • Develop and implement gender sensitive monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track progress towards gender equality goals and outcomes.
  • Provide training, mentorship and capacity-building support to staff, partners and stakeholders on gender equality concepts, principles, tools and methodologies.
  • Stay up to date with current trends, best practices, and emerging issues in gender equality.
  • Provide regular reports on gender-related indicators and recommend corrective actions as needed.
